D-Splay.com took advantage of several techniques to try to produce a visually stunning and easily navigable website.
Prior to our involvement with Off the Beaten Path they were utilizing a rudimentary website layout. Images were not well optimized for quick downloading.
D-Splay.com offered to design a more professional website for them as well as introduce better methods to create optimized images. Since the redesign we've been told that their online sales have quadrupled.
This is a very image-intense website. It is primarily a photo depository where customers can view hundreds of photos taken at the event they just attended and choose which images they would like sized and printed. As always fast download speeds for visitors was our primary concern.
The size, scope, and frequency of updates of this website require expandibility. In order to make it easy to maintain we used ASP include files.
D-Splay.com increased dependence on CSS to replace browser-buggy JavaScript MouseOver scripts. CSS was further used to overlay the top corner images above the navigation bar.
Off the Beaten Path is a home-grown operation, expanding as their needs demand. A careful eye on expenses helps keep the business growing. Web development will grow along with business. They currently conduct their business personally at the events they attend, via phone or through PayPal on the website.
In the near future Off the Beaten Path may well need a full suite of web applications to handle databasing of images, dynamic thumbnail creation, a shopping cart, customer tracking, and perhaps frequent-customer logins, and newsletters.
