Peter's Painting Company
Even though this little website is largely based on basic website design rectangles and squares D-Splay.com received a greater positive response from test subjects to this format than with Bohemia Crystal Glass' website.
It's not as if house painting is more exhilerating than Bohemian Crystal, what caught people's eye was the human aspect. Instead of a bland site droning on and on about preperation, texture, technique, and so-on, viewers related immediately with the painter image. This image apparently piqued viewer's curiosity to see what the painter will be doing on the next page thus pulling the viewer throughout the rest of the website.
I had spent much more "quality time" on the crystal website adding nifty features here and there but that did not have nearly the impact on viewers as Peter's website. Lessons learned: Adding a human element is helpful for a website; but adding a visual storyboard is sure to suck in viewers and potential customers.
